Some of you may remember that Nils came to this country in 1854 with the last name Stubberud. This came from the name of the farm which he owned and sold before coming to America. The Stubberud farm is north of Feiring about 4 km and also adjoins Lake Mjøsa. The history of this farm goes back to the mid 1600's when it was purchased from the king. We have not had time to trace whether it has been in the family since then or not. It was called the Sandviken farm at that time. Later, the Stubberud farm was purchased as part of the Sandviken farm and is located on the west side of the road. The Stubberud farm belonged to the family of Nils's wife Dorthea. Nils and Dorthea purchased the upper part of the Stubberud farm and built a house there. We saw the area where the original house was built but the original house no longer exists. There are several houses on the Stubberud farm. One such house is owned by the ex-wife of Jon Skjøldt. We were able to visit her in that home. We also were able to follow the farm down to the lake which has a very nice shore setting.
There are many of the houses on the Stubberud farm being used for vacation cottages or occupied permanently.
